HRC follows up the final Jerez round with a two-day test
On the back of the final WorldSBK round at the Jerez Circuit, Team HRC and rider Xavi Vierge have completed two days of testing at the same Spanish track
Team HRC remained at the Circuito de Jerez following the final WorldSBK round to take part in an important post-season test as it begins its preparations for the 2025 Superbike World Championship season.
Unfortunately, Iker Lecuona was unable to join team-mate Xavi Vierge for this test session. Lecuona sustained injury during Sunday’s Superpole race at Jerez, with doctors diagnosing a displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. On Tuesday 22, Lecuona underwent a successful surgical procedure to treat the fracture at IMED Valencia Hospital in Spain.
Vierge continued with the work programme in Lecuona’s absence, with rider and team carrying out a series of comparison tests over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. With Lecuona indisposed, Vierge actually had three bikes available to him for the evaluation of different set-ups across the different machines.
Working closely with his technicians and utilizing the data collected over the recent race weekend, Xavi focused on carefully and methodically assessing all the available equipment, with a particular emphasis on electronics. Without the time pressures typically experienced during race events, this allowed for a calm and thorough evaluation, as well as the opportunity to complete a few valuable long runs. Over the two days, Vierge completed 172 laps.
The work will now continue back at base, with Team HRC not expected to test again until January 2025.

“It’s been a really important two-day test. We mainly focused on electronics and conducted many back-to-back tests on the bike setup. The sessions were very useful, as we had two sunny days with different track conditions. On both mornings, the track was super grippy due to the cooler temperatures, and as the days progressed, it became really hot. This allowed us to work across a range of conditions, focusing particularly on the high temperatures, a situation in which we usually struggle. We’ve concentrated on race pace, and I can say we managed to improve a bit compared to the recent race weekend, which was a positive outcome. It was also great to have the test team and other Honda riders here, as the more information and feedback we gather from different riders with varying riding styles, the better. Now the engineers have a long winter ahead to work on the data we've collected. They will have time to calmly compare the data and take the best elements of what we’ve tried to make the right choices for 2025. As for me, the most important thing now is to get some rest. In two days, on Friday, I will fly off for my honeymoon—my real honeymoon—since the one after the wedding was more of a 'Cremona race' honeymoon. After that, I'll be ready to get back to work. I'll visit the EICMA show in Italy, followed by other commitments we typically have during the winter season.”
