Xavi Vierge @XaviVierge
Xavi Vierge was born in Barcelona, Spain, on 30 April 1997.
Vierge joined the Team HRC project for the 2022 Superbike World Championship season and now heads into his fourth consecutive year with the squad. After securing a string of strong results during the second half of the 2024 championship, Xavi looks forward to building on that momentum alongside team-mate Iker Lecuona this coming year.
Background
Runner-up in the 2015 FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship, Vierge made his debut in the Moto2 World Championship that same year, competing with the Tech 3 Team from round ten onwards. He remained with that squad as a permanent rider for the following two years, ending the 2016 season as Rookie of the Year and achieving his first podium in 2017 (Japan) during a strong season that saw the Spaniard regularly battling at the front.
Vierge’s collaboration with the Dynavolt Intact GP team in 2018 brought two more podium finishes (Argentina and Australia), before he moved to the EG 0,0 Marc VDS garage, and then Petronas Sprinta Racing. Proving to be a regular top ten finisher in Moto2, Xavi also reached the podium (third) at the 2021 Catalunya round, ending the season in 11th position overall.
In 2022 Vierge joined the WorldSBK Championship as a factory Honda rider with Team HRC. After securing a seventh-place finish in his first race at Aragón, Vierge regularly placed inside the top ten in the subsequent races. His best result of the season was a close fourth-place finish in the Superpole race at Misano, the Spaniard rounding out the year in tenth place overall.
The 2023 season saw Xavi achieve his first WorldSBK podium at Mandalika. Once again, the rider consistently fought inside the top ten and again placed tenth overall come the end of the season. Following in teammate Lecuona’s footsteps, Vierge took part in the 2023 edition of the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours race, riding for the Honda factory team Team HRC with Japan Post alongside Takumi Takahashi and Tetsuta Nagashima. The team won the race, scoring a second consecutive victory for Honda and its 29th overall.
At the end of 2023, Honda Racing Corporation announced a two-year contract extension for both Xavi Vierge and Iker Lecuona. The first part of the 2024 season was not within its challenges but Vierge kept his focus and worked hard with his team from start to finish, rounding out the year in eleventh position. Having made some good progress particularly over the last five rounds, Xavi is keen to build on that positive momentum heading into the 2025 season.
