HRC follows up the final Jerez round with a two-day test

On the back of the final WorldSBK round at the Jerez Circuit, Team HRC and rider Xavi Vierge have completed two days of testing at the same Spanish track

Team HRC remained at the Circuito de Jerez following the final WorldSBK round to take part in an important post-season test as it begins its preparations for the 2025 Superbike World Championship season.

Unfortunately, Iker Lecuona was unable to join team-mate Xavi Vierge for this test session. Lecuona sustained injury during Sunday’s Superpole race at Jerez, with doctors diagnosing a displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. On Tuesday 22, Lecuona underwent a successful surgical procedure to treat the fracture at IMED Valencia Hospital in Spain.

Vierge continued with the work programme in Lecuona’s absence, with rider and team carrying out a series of comparison tests over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. With Lecuona indisposed, Vierge actually had three bikes available to him for the evaluation of different set-ups across the different machines.

Working closely with his technicians and utilizing the data collected over the recent race weekend, Xavi focused on carefully and methodically assessing all the available equipment, with a particular emphasis on electronics. Without the time pressures typically experienced during race events, this allowed for a calm and thorough evaluation, as well as the opportunity to complete a few valuable long runs. Over the two days, Vierge completed 172 laps.

The work will now continue back at base, with Team HRC not expected to test again until January 2025.
