Team HRC lands at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain for what is the tenth of twelve Superbike World Championship rounds. A home round for factory riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge, the team is keen to consolidate recent progress and results on Spanish soil.

Round nine concluded at the Cremona Circuit just days ago, and it proved to be the strongest weekend of the season so far for Team HRC , with both Iker and Xavi delivering strong performances in every race.

Last year’s edition of the Aragón round saw Lecuona finish sixth in both the Superpole Race and Race 2, while Vierge took seventh and eighth in those same races. The team recently completed a two-day test at the same circuit, on 11-12 September, which allowed the two factory riders to refamiliarize themselves with the track, particularly considering it has recently been resurfaced, and best prepare for this weekend’s racing.

Inaugurated in 2009, the Motorland Aragón facility is located in Alcañiz, part of Spain’s autonomous community of Aragón, and has staged WorldSBK events on a regular basis since 2011. 5077 metres in length, the track features seven right-hand turns and ten left-handers.

“Aragón is a home round, so we are even more excited to race at this track. We completed a test two weeks ago, which allowed us to experience the new asphalt, and we were fast. So, the weekend will give us another chance to see if we can confirm the improvements when the entire SBK field is on track. I’ll have a special helmet in support of a charity association too, and I want to thank my sponsor, Pont Group, for including space for it in the design. It’s a very special feeling, and I’m ready to give it my best shot.”

“Aragón - let's see how it will go. I have some questions in terms of grip and tyre life because we did a test there after they resurfaced the track, and I noticed some big changes in terms of feeling. It almost feels like a completely different track. Modifications were made to the kerbs as well, and this combination makes for a really different sensation. The grip level is very high but also quite hard on the tyres. That said, we were just four bikes on track, so the conditions will surely change when everyone is there. As for the track itself, it has usually been good for us, so let's see if we can exploit that to take another small step forward.”
